LAND OF GLORY
THE STORY
Land of Glory is set in the heart of Dar Al-Izzah, which has always been the cradle of civilization, literature, and arts, and the home of legendary Arab heroes whose stories have reached the far corners of the earth.
Dar Al-Izzah remained that way for centuries before the Mongol invasion, which wreaked havoc in almost every kingdom in the world before finally defeating the brave army of Dar Al-Izza, which was the last to fall in front of the Mongol brute force.
A group of faithful people believed that no matter how long the night is, the dawn would definitely come, and they inherited the victory prophecy that freedom will come at the hands of whomever the heavens choose with the first light of the sun, after its total eclipse which occurs every 360 years, in the presence of the young man whose lineage must extend to one of the legendary Arab heroes, Sinbad, Aladdin, or Ali Baba.
Everyone will wait for the legendary powers of all heroes to inhibit the body of the 20-year-old boy who will become the Knight of Time at the appointed time and place!
The descendant elite spent many years, in the darkness of the night, building a world hidden from the Mongols and establishing a school to prepare the young men for the fulfillment of the prophecy.
They passed down the sacred commandment that they never confront the Mongols before the promised hero is chosen; otherwise, all of their efforts will be worthless!
Three brilliant students form a strong friendship, and they decide to fulfill the prophecy in their own way, going on an adventure to retrieve its lost copy, the journey that changed everything!
CONCEPT ART
The successive golden ages of Islamic civilization have left us a significant legacy, which was clearly demonstrated in the dazzling Islamic architecture. The identity of Islamic architecture and its characteristics are influenced largely by the Islamic religion and scientific revolution that followed.
During the research and development phase for the visual appearance of Dar AlIzza, it was agreed that there is a need to combine various Islamic architectural schools. Of which, the Damascus Umayyad, Ottoman, Abbasid and Fatimid architecture. Dar AlIzza should present remarkable architecture, yet it is needed to signify the effect of the invaders on its appearance.
At this stage of design, we carefully dismantled Islamic architecture to its simple elements, to be able to design a distinguished architectural style suited for the stylized nature of the animated film.
One of the most important elements was the Arabesque woodwork on the doors and windows in general. In addition to Al- Mashrabiyya; a unique creation of ancient Arab and Muslim artists.
Due to the lack of wood resources in the region, the Arab artists were able to carve small pieces of wood and assemble them in a remarkable geometric assortment to finally produce exquisite wooden designs
Columns, domes and Minarets had its share in forming the architectural identity of Dar Allzzah.
For the columns, we began to study and draw sketches for crowns decoration forms.
Styles varied from the elegant Andalusian to the willowy Ottoman, each to be used in locations that best serve the dramatic context.
There is no doubt that Minarets represent a symbol of pride in the Islamic Buildings.
It is considered the basic element that distinguishes it from any other form of other architectural styles in the world.
It symbolically represents the relation between the creators of this civilization (Muslims) and the lord and creator of the universe (Allah).
Consequently, Muslims architects bestowed a special interest in Minarets throughout the ages. They competed in the remarkableness of the design and the astonishment of the construction.
The domes also had their share which was not - in any way - less than Minarets.
The decorative richness of the Domes is a joy to every eye, and together with Minarets they help to establish the unique visual style of Dar AlIzzah.

CHARACTER
DESIGN
The connection of the audience to the character is the primary goal when designing an animated character. Imbuing the characters with humanity, and focusing on their humanity is vitally important to creating this connection.
When designing a character, a character design artist needs to know what to exaggerate and what to play down,
what to add to give a hint of background and depth, and what to do to develop the personality.
Sinbad is a leading figure by nature. but he is funny when it comes to Aladdin as he considers him his best friend and fierce enemy at the same time!
Leadership and bravery circulate in Sindbad’s blood and reside in his genes. He is bold, adventurous and goes with justice wherever it is! He does not hesitate to follow what he sees is right even if it clashes with traditions and beliefs, and this is the main key to his character. There is no doubt that he is stubborn! He does not easily hand over his mind to anyone. If he wants something, he struggles and persists until he reaches his aim, even if he perished while searching for it! Loved among his peers, Sinbad has earned their appreciation and trust. Therefore he is always in command.
She is AlAnoud, the daughter of the knights, A lady of honorable descent and a leader of her people. She is a person with great manners and mind.
And she is the mother of Sinbad. She is the one who has nurtured Sinbad’s pride, dignity, love for equestrian and justice to make up for his kind-hearted father's shortfall in that regard. Raising a real hero was the project of her life! Hence she spent all her life in the care of Sinbad’s heart and mind. Until he became who he is!
This is Rihanna, the audacious knight or at least this is how she sees herself. She has the body of a child, the mind of a fierce knight, as if she had inherited wisdom and serenity from her late mother. Her small heart does not dream BUT of fighting the invaders and defeating them! She even believes that SHE is the Knight of Time, the one whom will free the nation!K Rihanna lives in her own world; filled with slogans of courage and victory! You always see her armed with military uniform made of paper and cardboard pieces! In her hand is her wooden sword that she never leaves, not even when she is asleep!
Blasting off, randomness, madness, courage, loyalty, and friendship.
The rush, the enthusiasm and humor!
Put all these characteristics in one blender, and if you wish add a bit more and the end result will be Aladdin!
Each of these characteristics is manifested in his shaggy appearance and his wonderful facial expressions.
You can only love him and give him a special place in your heart.
No man can get bored of him.
He is no doubt the funniest in every gathering.
Ali Baba is an esteemed, highborn young man. His father, Prince Suleiman, is one of the elite noble princes of Dar AlIzzah. This nobility is easily noticed in Ali Baba’s stature, clothing, and facial features. Indeed, how would the descendant of the house of the emirate not be neat, elegant, willowy, and good looking?!
This is Suhaila, the mother of Aladdin, a strong woman who came from a modest rural place with her family to enroll her son Alaa in school.
She is always angry and abhorrent because of the cruelty of life, and the large family noise surrounding her. Which woman would bear all this misery to serve this great number of people?!
Therefore, no one dares to talk a lot with her or object to her actions, neither Alaa nor his brothers nor even their father (her husband)!
She has a scream that shakes the house and trembles the feet!
If Sinbad was the hero of the story as it seems to people, then Jalaluddin is the most prominent hero! At least for me "the story writer". It is not a condition of being a hero that victory comes with your own hands, but in fact, heroism is gathering people on a lofty and a noble goal. Here comes the greatness of the teacher, the mentor and the leader Jalaluddin! If you look closely to the personality of Sheikh Jalal you would find him combine strength and wisdom, leadership and responsibility, the plainness of sheiks and the knighthood of the youth. Add to that a fair amount of wit and fun! His character combines the qualities of a noble knight, a heroic leader, and a wise mentor!
Qualities that rarely meet in one person!
Although they are companions, But, there are fundamental differences between Jalaluddin and Najmuddeen!!
The latter is an audacious knight who is very fast and powerful. He does not see a way but fighting and confrontation! Najmuddin does not think about the consequences of confrontation on the people of his country.
To him, all the consequences are lesser than surrendering to the enemy!
Few of the villains are respected. Certainly not for their evil, but for their sharp intelligence and cunning. It is rare for so much evil and oppression to gather behind a cloak of calmness and tact. He is cunning like a fox, quiet like a snake. He has the sight of a hawk and a sharp intelligence. He stays in his place silently, and then bites as quick as a Scorpion. When he talks, people should hear. When he hits, it is so painful. He is a person with great vision and deep thinking. If you gather all those qualities, you know that you are in the presence of the unequaled leader "Bato".
Bato is a leader who was able to overcome his opponents, then govern the masses and lead them to secure peace in which his army and civilians peacefully enjoy their condition under the central command rule. Bato has been in his youth a brilliant militarily leader, was at the head of the barbaric armies, as was Jalaluddin and Najmuddin at the head of the People’s Resistance after the defeat of the army of Dar AlIzzah.
In spite of their enormous muscle strength, they are nothing but a bunch of fools, a group of stupid soldiers surrounds their commander Gogo.
On top of them are these two clumsy soldiers, Tojo and Pojo, the commander’s loyal assistants. Tojo and Pojo do not differ from their boss in stupidity. They are even more stupid! They both love pretending to be important, despite the ridiculousness of the role assigned to them.
If it weren't for Bato's genius plans, they would have been defeated a long time ago.
STORYBOARD
Creating a storyboard is key to establishing well thought out animation. Storyboarding is a very important step in setting the tone for telling a story.
Storyboards can help express thoughts, ideas, and direction visually to create the story we are trying to tell.
A storyboard helps the director validate whether the storytelling is working or not, and determine the direction the film is going to take.
COLOR KEYS
Due to the nonlinear production process of computer animation, the director needs all the clues he can get as to what the finished image might look like on the screen.
The color keys are an early attempt to map out the color, lighting, emotion and moods in a film.
It’s not about making a single pretty piece of art; the color keys evolve throughout the early stages of the film, hand in hand with story development.
